What if it rains?
The Resting Place offers at least four places to stay out of the elements and be with or hear the horses.
What if the weather is bad?
Journey with Horses will reschedule for ice/snow. We will be in close contact and check emergency levels in the counties you must drive through to get to The Resting Place.
Do I need to hold back around the horses?
No, if horses don’t like what’s happening they will remove themselves from the situation. If the horses elicit strong emotions, that’s okay.
Where will retreats be held?
On our farm, approximately a 30-minute drive from the City of Athens, Ohio.
Do we get to ride horses?
No, we will observe, touch and interact depending on your and the horse’s level of comfort.
What do you do?
My role is to keep you and the horses safe. I translate horse; a non-verbal language.
Do I need to wear anything special?
When with the horses, at the very least, you need to have closed toe shoes; boots are best. They do leave random piles on our property. You should also be aware that you may be licked of slobbered on by the horses, so no need to wear anything fancy!
How should I dress for the day?
Please dress in layers. Most of our day will be spent outside. There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing. You may want a change of clothes for any unforeseen incidents. Lots to get into when you are in nature and with animals all day.
What are the Covid precautions at The Resting Place?
Masks MUST be worn inside buildings. We would rather be too safe than not safe enough. Please keep a 6′ distance from other humans if you are without a mask outside. PLEASE DO NOT COME if you have tested positive or have been exposed. I promise to reschedule. You will not miss time at The Resting Place.
What is Coaching?
Coaching is different from medicine, therapy, social work, or religion. Coaching is radically collaborative. It happens in the conversations and relationships you develop while uncovering what you want. I am trained and practiced at helping you discover your amazing abilities, be it confidence, compassion, or courage. When defining what you want in your career, relationships, family, or self – you must answer for yourself.
I can’t stress the importance of what you bring to the table; I’m here to help you find a way to who you want to be. I am not a therapist. The subtle difference between a life coach and a counselor/therapist is the analogy of the physical therapist vs a personal trainer. If you are injured and need to heal you would go to a physical therapist. If you are looking to get stronger from this point forward you would seek a personal trainer. There will be times that you may injure yourself when working with the personal trainer so you would go back to the physical therapist. This happens when I am coaching someone. We become aware of a past experience that has not been healed so it is time to find a counselor or therapist and when the hurt has been healed the coaching can continue. I believe in therapy, and I think it has its place, especially in healing the past. Being flexible to the specialities of coaching and therapy can help you move forward quickly.
