When is it NOT busy on the farm????

April

I met a Shaman from Peru.  Don Eduardo.  It was an amazing retreat at Serenity Roots near Athens, Ohio

sometimes the rain leads to stunning rainbows!

all the rain in April means the mowing has started!!  that also means that our herd is in the paddock from 8am to 2am.  Smokey had laminitis three years ago.  Laminitis is a spike in his blood sugar.  He gets Heiro every morning (herbs, mainly cinnamon, that keeps his blood sugar stable).  He cannot have fresh grass during the day.  This is one way we show love to our herd.

part of our spring cleaning is washing the hay nets.

it looks to me like Dusty is posing

We had good friends visit from Austria.  What a wonderful time!  They enjoyed meeting our herd.

We took the wild side tour at The Wilds in Cumberland, Ohio.  We fed giraffes and rhinos.  We got to see the wild animals up close and personal.

the end of April also means getting the garden ready to plant. i got seeds from Gourlandia in NY. I will be growing an African Kettle gourd. I hope we get some gourds in the fall!! I started seeds in the green house. We will have tomatoes, gourds, cantaloupe, watermelon and some marigolds to keep the bugs away. We hope you had a wonderful April 2024.
